District Administration

Dr. James Bigsby, Superintendent
Dr. Bigsby is beginning his 27th year as an educator. He taught fourth and sixth grades in Virginia and New Jersey. He has 16 years experience as an assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Virginia and a Master’s degree and Doctorate from Rutgers University. His doctoral research was in the areas of learning theory, motivational theory, teacher learning, and assessments. He lives with his wife, Melanie and his two children, Mark and Grace.
Mr. Stephen Fried, Business Administrator and Board Secretary
Mr. Fried came to the Green Brook Board of Education as the School Business Administrator in January 2019 and brings with him over 14 years of finance and accounting experience. Prior to his arrival, he most recently worked as the Assistant School Business Administrator at the South Plainfield BOE managing a roughly $64M annual budget and all aspects of the business office and its operations. Mr. Fried audited school boards before starting work in school administration.

Prior to working in the education field, Mr. Fried worked in audit, accounting, and tax for various private equity and hedge funds, managing investment funds with assets in excess of $5 billion.

Mr. Fried holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rutgers University-New Brunswick and is licensed in New Jersey as a Certified Public Accountant, Public School Accountant, School Business Administrator, and Qualified Purchasing Agent.

Ms. Lisa Ferreira, Director of Student Services
Ms. Ferreira has been an educator for 15 years. She has served both as a school psychologist and special services supervisor. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University with dual majors in psychology and education. She obtained her first Master’s degree in Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. She obtained her second Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton. Ms. Ferreira’s approach to education is rooted in the whole child and she believes in providing children with the supports they need to grow academically, socially and emotionally. Her interests in mindfulness and resilience are a direct result of raising two wonderful daughters, Sara and Leah.
Mr. Jason Weber, Director of Operations
Mr. Weber has worked in education since 2009, after spending nearly a decade as Director of Editorial Operations for Highlights for Children and Boyds Mills Press and as a founding partner of Namelos publishing house. He has presented at the national/global conferences of the International Reading Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and American Librarian Association, and is a member of the United States Board on Books for Young People.

Mr. Weber holds a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management. He lives with his wife Jacqueline and children William and Juliette.

School Administration

Mr. Paul Fornale, Principal, Irene E. Feldkirchner Elementary
Mr. Fornale is a native of New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree in English from Ursinus College before beginning his career as an English teacher in York, PA. He earned an MA in English from Shippensburg University and joined Green Brook Schools in 2003. He taught English Language Arts and received an M.Ed. in school administration from the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education in 2009. He then helped launch the Green Brook Education and Athletic Foundation, later serving as director of its Before and After Care Program and the Green Brook Day Camp. He lives in Franklin Park.
Mrs. Alicia Subervi, Principal, Green Brook Middle School
Mrs. Subervi has been an educator for 17 years. She began her career in California teaching fourth and fifth grade. In New Jersey, she has taught kindergarten through eighth grade. She was an enrichment and gifted and talented teacher for part of her career and then transitioned to administration in 2017. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from California State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Kean University. She enjoys reading, attending sporting events and traveling with her family. She lives with her husband, Adam, her three active boys, and their puppy Hunter.
