Vacancy Notice: Superintendent of Schools
The Green Brook Township Board of Education in Somerset County NJ is seeking a visionary, student-centered, and equity-driven educational leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools. The successful candidate will lead a high-achieving PreK–8 district of approximately 720 students and 120 staff members, committed to academic excellence, equity, and student well-being in our strong, engaged suburban community. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026.
About Green Brook Township Schools
Green Brook Township Schools serves students in prekindergarten through grade 8 from two schools: Irene E. Feldkirchner Elementary School (PreK–4) and Green Brook Middle School (5–8). Our district is known for maintaining strong academic performance, robust community engagement through an active PTO and education/athletic foundations, and a collaborative culture that prioritizes both student achievement and social-emotional growth. Students transition to Watchung Hills Regional High School for grades 9–12.
Leadership Profile
We seek a leader who will:
- Serve as a visionary instructional leader, maintaining Green Brook's strong academic performance while advancing equity and inclusive education for all learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
- Be deeply committed to culturally responsive practices and continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making.
- Build trusting, collaborative relationships with an elected nine-member Board of Education, staff, families, and community partners.
- Communicate clearly, transparently, and frequently with diverse stakeholders, remaining visible and accessible across both schools.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and strategic long-range planning to ensure efficient use of resources.
Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a valid New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) per N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-12.4.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in school administration with a strong record of improving teaching and learning in K–8 settings.
- Education: Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field required; Doctorate preferred.
- Skills: Demonstrated success in:
- Instructional leadership and use of data to drive continuous improvement
- Curriculum development and familiarity with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS)
- Personnel management, supervision, and evaluation of building and central office administrators
- School finance, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Strategic planning and long-range visioning
- Labor relations and productive work with bargaining units
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Chief School Administrator and primary advisor to the Board of Education.
- Lead the development and implementation of instructional vision and strategic priorities aligned to Board goals and student needs.
- Oversee curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning across both schools, including STEAM, world language, arts, and gifted programming.
- Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
- Manage district operations, including budget development, facilities, transportation, and school safety.
- Foster a positive, inclusive school climate and engage meaningfully with families, community, and local government.
- Manage labor relations and personnel administration.
Requirements
- Residency: Candidates must meet the residency requirements of the New Jersey First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7).
- Background Check: Finalists must pass a criminal history background check and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status (N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1).

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary Range: $180,000 – $210,000
*Note: Final salary and contract terms are subject to the review and approval of the Executive County Superintendent.
