She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kean University with a Major in Elementary Education. Ms. Pollard holds two Master’s Degrees from Rider University. The first degree was completed in 1994 in Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision. In 2000, she earned a Master’s Degree in Administration (Principal and CSA). In addition, as a life-long learner, Ms. Pollard has taken graduate courses at Montclair State University, Rutgers University, The College of New Jersey, and Jersey City State College. She has presented for the Mathematics Association, Science Teachers Association, Middlesex Public Schools, NJEA, and Liberty Science Center. She was awarded a $5000 Dodge Foundation Grant for Green Brook Middle School, a SSI Internship, a NJBISEC Grant to develop lessons for Windows on Science, a PRIMES Internship, and worked with a Somerset County scientist to publish, Tools- Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Ms. Pollard has been an educator for over thirty-years. She began her career in Spotswood and then Plainfield as an elementary school teacher. In 1982, Ms. Pollard joined the staff of the Irene E. Feldkirchner School as a sixth grade teacher. In 1999, when the Green Brook Middle School was established, Ms. Pollard transferred with the sixth graders to the previous 7-12 high school building. In 1997, Ms. Pollard became the District Curriculum Facilitator and taught grade eight English Language Arts. Being nominated by the Superintendent, Ms. Pollard became a consultant for the State of New Jersey grade four science assessment (ESPA) and remains on the NJASK Science 4 committee. During her tenure as principal, the Green Brook Middle School has demonstrated excellence in academics, sports, and the arts. For five years, the school has been honored as one of the top ten-percent of the schools in the State in the arts. The schools NJASK scores remain in the top percentages in the State. In 2004, GBMS grade eight scores were fourth in the State of New Jersey and the school was nominated by the County for a Blue Ribbon Designation. The Green Brook Middle School was recognized in 2010 by the Courier News for being the top performing school on the NJASK of the hundred schools in its distribution area. This year, the Green Brook Schools were recognized as the only district in Somerset County to meet the requirements of Adequate Yearly Progress for the past five years. In the area of athletics, the school offers soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, track and cross country. The staff offers the students a plethora of afterschool activities in which to develop their individual interests.
